What are WhatsApp Message Templates?

These templates are necessary for sending messages to users outside the 24-hour customer service window, helping with WhatsApp automation.

Purpose of Message Templates

WhatsApp templates are mainly used for:

  • Business Communication – Sending order confirmations, reminders, and updates to enhance WhatsApp customer support.

  • Automated Messaging – Providing instant responses to customer inquiries through WhatsApp Business automation.

  • Marketing – Sending promotional messages, offers, or campaigns to engage customers and boost WhatsApp marketing efforts.

  • Authentication – Verifying user identity through OTPs (One-Time Passwords) for secure WhatsApp Business transactions.

Understanding the Message Templates Table

When you access the Message Templates section, you will see a table displaying all existing templates. This table includes the following columns:

  1. Name – Displays the name of each template.

    • Template names must be in lowercase English letters.

    • Example: order_confirmation, promo_offer, account_verification.

  2. Status – Indicates the current approval status of the template.

    • Approved – The template is ready for use in WhatsApp Business campaigns.

    • Pending – The template is awaiting WhatsApp’s approval for use.

    • Rejected – The template has been rejected, and changes may be needed to comply with WhatsApp Business guidelines.

  3. Category – Shows the type of message template. WhatsApp provides three main categories:

    • Utility – For essential customer updates like order confirmations, delivery notifications, and appointment reminders.

    • Marketing – For promotional messages, offers, and brand announcements in WhatsApp marketing campaigns.

    • Authentication – For security-related messages, such as OTPs and login verifications in WhatsApp Business automation.

  4. Language – Displays the language of the message template.

    • Templates can be created in multiple languages to enhance WhatsApp customer engagement.

    • Example: English, Arabic, French, etc.

  5. Actions – Provides options to manage the template.

    • Edit – Modify the template’s content or settings for WhatsApp marketing needs.

    • Delete – Remove the template if it’s no longer needed in your WhatsApp Business strategy.

    • Manage – View details or make changes to the template.
